Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called on the European Union to help the Ukrainian authorities implement the Minsk agreements. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the statement of the foreign Ministry, the Minister, following a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of the European Union member States and the head of the EU representation in Russia, noted the need for a non-discriminatory approach to ensuring the language and educational rights of all residents of Ukraine.

During the conversation, the parties discussed current international issues, including the situation in Libya and Venezuela, as well as the problem of the Iranian nuclear program. Representatives of Russia and EU member States reviewed the prospects for developing bilateral relations. They paid special attention to interaction in overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel negatively assessed Ukraine’s statements on the need to review the Minsk agreements during telephone talks. In addition, the heads of state confirmed that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements as a basis for resolving the conflict inside Ukraine.
